Watched the time change on my Apple Watch analog face last night and it was interesting to see the second hand ticking around the last minute before 2am notice that the hour hand didn’t jump from 2 to 3 until about 6-7 seconds after the 0 seconds point.
Anyone watch the digital and notice a similar or different delay?

This is why the OR legislature putting forth a bill to divert money allocated to biking and walking infrastructure due to ODOT budget shortfalls caused by legislative disfunction is so annoying. Better biking infrastructure works to increase bicycle riding/commuting !
And consider contacting your OR state legislators to let them know you aren’t happy about this (!).

New MacBook Pros continue to be an excellent value. I’ve been buying Mac laptops my biz my since the PowerBook 170 (1991) and I’ve always spent $3500 to $5000 on the near top of the line plus needed accessories (which included several extra batteries and an external charger (only 45min run time each!), optional optical drive, and even a 3rd party faster 56K modem for an early model (180 I think?).
Newly released models, config as I need/want: $3K-$5K ✔️
(But *phenomenally* more capable (!))

Happy 1st day of #MARCHintosh!
New unopened OWC memory for some of last PowerPC Macs, and some early x86 Macs available; free to good home in the US (elsewhere if you want to pay postage).
I bought these thinking I'd upgrade two of my Mac Minis, but I should have booted them up before ordering these because the Minis had already been upgraded! 🤦♂️

Was reminded of the utility of “Text Case” a nice little iOS utility for manipulating text (used it to title case the all caps that the cookbook title was in). Has lots more capability than I’ve explored (calculates hashes, converts to markdown, etc and is automateable in ways I haven’t looked into).

This is quite laborious. I have maybe 100 links to click and the press a button for. Clearly they could have made a bulk importer but chose not to and that makes me sad.

Random: Estate planning quotes (OR, USA):
"We operate on a flat fee basis; your fee will depend on what package you end up moving forward with (either will-based or trust-based). For a will-based package, the flat fee is $3000. For a trust-based package, the fee is $5000 plus $101 cost for recording a deed with the county.”
Flat fee is nice, but $3K for two wills - ouch. You know they’re using a template.
Non flat-fee place quotes are $375-450/hr so far (no estimate of hours needed given).

Interesting phone project (and tablet in the video). Too big for Geek but maybe if enough folks bugged these folks about making a smaller one they’s consider it? As a smaller scale manufacturer it seems like they are in a position to service niche markets.

HIPPA disclosure clauses I haven’t read from a healthcare provider before:
“National security: We may disclose your PHI to authorized federal officials for intelligence, counterintelligence, and other national security activities authorized by law.
Protective services for the President and others: We may disclose your PHI to authorized federal officials so they may provide protection to the President, other authorized persons or foreign heads of state or to conduct special investigations.”

Anyone know of a group working on building a small (4” diagonal) modern cellphone that isn’t a flawed design (like to moto folding phone with hinge and display issues)?
Maybe a small scale effort using a linux based OS? (Like Ubuntu mobile or PureOS or something?).
Geek had to upgrade their SE1 because smaller cell companies here are dropping support and the used SE3 they bought came with iOS 26.0 and they are livid with how much worse it is compared to their old SE1 & old iOS version

Edit: looks like the noise is full of inaccuracies and the truth is more subtle but points to a logitech internal certificate that has nothing to do with Apple.
Didn’t seem like something Apple would have done and would certainly have been shocking news to me if they had, so, glad to have confirmation that an expired dev cert doesn’t brick an app.

I really hate how the camera photos share sheet will lose all the text you type in for an iMessage when sharing a photo if you switch to another app. Burned me so many times you’d think i’d have learned by now :-/
