I recommend these easy first steps to #DigitalSovereignty for an average user:

1. Install @signalapp@mastodon.world, and *delete* WhatsApp
2. Start using #Firefox or @librewolf@chaos.social with the @ublockorigin extension
3. Start using @libreoffice@fosstodon.org for documents and spreadsheets
4. Use a free opensource email client e.g. @thunderbird@mastodon.online

All of the above can be done on non free operating systems.

Start experimenting with #Linux on a spare computer or laptop. All recommended software works there as well.

In the context of #FOSS, #opensource software, I see often the word "alternative".

This word gives me a feeling of a second choice after the "real" thing.

For example: "Zammand is the open-source alternative for help desks".

Maybe it would be better to say something like: "Zammand is the open-source solution for help desks".

Or "solution", or "application".
