I received a letter from the #UK #government Department of Work & Pensions (#dwp) recently. It was sent to my old address and had arrived thanks to the forwarding service of #RoyalMail. They told me I couldn't do it online due to one of the answers I gave, so I made a phone call. After 30 minutes of repeatedly being told they knew I was #waiting it was great to speak to a human with a thoroughly #English accent. I could understand her and enjoy a little chit chat. Since my #teenage #years I've been known by my middle name. That's common in Ireland, I was told. She confessed to having Irish relatives in her family. But to the point of this toot! I really should have told her that #Google reckons the number I rang belongs to a company called "Funerals on a Budget". After the call a dialogue appeared asking me if I could confirm they had the correct information. I was so busy #laughing I managed to close the #dialogue before answering.

New powers, to be added to the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill, will allow swift action after a forthcoming consultation on children’s digital wellbeing, including potential minimum age limits for social media, curbs on features such as infinite scrolling and options to age restrict or limit children’s #VPN use. The consultation will also examine AI chatbot access, digital consent age and preserving data after a child’s death. The #Scottish #Government has accepted in full 11 recommendations aimed at strengthening safety and tackling antisocial behaviour on the rail network. A report by the Rail Enforcement Powers Working Group, involving operators, trade unions and police, examined how existing powers are used and where they could be improved. It considered fixed penalty notices, repeat offending, protection for rail staff, youth justice and railway byelaws. Measures already under way include replacing ScotRail’s blanket #alcohol ban with time-limited restrictions and progressing legislation to increase antisocial behaviour fines and widen the use of fixed penalty notices. Work will also look at consistent enforcement and closer partnership between #ScotRail, councils and police.
