Hey, Mastodon hive mind. I'm wondering what the best sollutions are these days for accessibly interacting with IRC? I come from the era of tools like MircWithSpeech and TalkingIRC. I'm currently using ADIIRC, with its speech plugin, which I helped develop! Along with @fastfinge@fed.interfree.ca, but i'm not sure if that client is seeing a lot of development, and there's still some annoying accessibility quirks, I'm also quite comfortable with irssi, but would prefer a windows native sollution if possible. Anything still good for mIRC? Something else? #IRC #Accessibility #A11Y #Chat

@gwynnion@mastodon.social Using IRC over i2p or Tor is how this ends. Start learning how to use IRC now, so that you can use it over Tor later. TheLounge or Convos are easy ways to start #irc #i2p #tor

Today has been IRC day! I finally got around to setting up an IRC server with IRCv3 support: ergochat. Configuration was very sensible. So far seems to be running well. I've got The Lounge set up as a web interface too. The IRCv3 features are very nice, especially getting chat backlog on connection and multiple client support. Both are on the same domain, and Caddy is the proxy for all HTTP(s) on the server. To keep the TLS for the IRCd up-to-date, I have a separate container that syncs the files from Caddy to ergo. I'm trying a new desktop client: Halloy, as a replacement for poor old IRSSI, which has no support for IRCv3 yet. On mobile I'm trying Igloo. The multiple client support means I can have the browser, desktop app, and mobile app all connected to the IRC server without having to run pounce/znc. https://github.com/ergochat/ergo https://github.com/thelounge/thelounge #irc #selfhosting

i made a #irc to #google #android messages bridge so i could text from an irc client. xkcd was right. its a bit rough around the edges but it surprisingly works really well https://git.sr.ht/~juliette/girc/tree/

Vielä hetki sitten ihmiset irkissä pohtivat kuoleeko IRC jossain vaiheessa. Nyt näyttää siltä, että tilanne on muuttunut. Meidän Quakenetin #pulina kanava on ollut nyt pystyssä 18 vuotta ja ihmeen hyvin se on pysynyt aktiivisena. Irkkaaminen on mulle elämäntapa. En osaa kuvitella arkeani ilman irciä. Se olisi tosi outoa, koska tykkään kirjoitella _koko ajan_. 😂 #irc

for a acouple of months I tried to get used to #Konversations and #Textual for IRC, to have a desktop application handle #IRC didn't work out, back to running #WeeChat in #tmux
