Hello everyone, I'm looking into Basilisk, which is a program that allows you to have conversations with multiple LLMs and handle them all in one place if you have API keys for those LLMs. What I'd like to know is if there is a way to import my entire conversation history with, say, ChatGPT into Basilisk. There's very little documentation right now, and I'd like to learn more in general about how to use it. What are, as another example, conversation profiles? This program looks really interesting; and as I consult an AI regularly for different things and keep an organic conversation going, I think I'd find it very useful rather than having to navigate through the web all the time. Thanks all. #AI #LLM #Technology #A11y #Screenreader #Blind #Basilisk.

@cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family sorry cassidy, i didn't even notice. i have dark reader on all the time for this precise reason... most websites still don't respect the system theme and i get a headache within a couple seconds of seeing a white background. i just assume web #a11y is broken and don't even take the risk. dropping niki from the cc because i was on the fence about tagging him in the first place and your message is probably sufficient here, if it's a thing he wants to fix.

If #webDesign people could please stop overriding the #hyperlink style to remove the underline, that'd be great. Great for #accessibility, to be precise. Removing the underline makes hyperlinks hard to see, even if you have fully acute vision! I just saw a site where links are a deep reddish color, barely distinguishable from the black text. No underline. No other markings. Utter madness. #a11y #webdev

Hey, Mastodon hive mind. I'm wondering what the best sollutions are these days for accessibly interacting with IRC? I come from the era of tools like MircWithSpeech and TalkingIRC. I'm currently using ADIIRC, with its speech plugin, which I helped develop! Along with @fastfinge@fed.interfree.ca, but i'm not sure if that client is seeing a lot of development, and there's still some annoying accessibility quirks, I'm also quite comfortable with irssi, but would prefer a windows native sollution if possible. Anything still good for mIRC? Something else? #IRC #Accessibility #A11Y #Chat

@ju@chaos.social @innocentzero@mastodon.social i should probably clarify that just because i happen to have a severe eye injury doesn't mean i'm defending the use of llms as an #a11y tool in the face of the ethical concerns. my reply was only about the quality of their output. as far as #a11y is concerned, llms are a bit like fake meat: only someone born into a life of eating meat wants simulated meat when they become vegetarian. it's a very temporary bridge. people who grow up vegetarian are usually disgusted by fake meat. similarly, only people who once could code will experience llms as #a11y ... someone *born* with optic nerve damage probably won't choose to spend time programming just because llms make that experience kinda-tolerable. it's a life they never knew and it's doubtful a typing assistant will make that life appealing. just a data point.

The context of an image and the author’s intention for including it determine what the alt text should say Noted. https://www.nngroup.com/articles/write-alt-text/ #a11y

If you share a video of a screen reader doing something, include the audio of the screen reader speaking. Do not just have a silent video with the speech captions shown. Otherwise, you’re preventing the very people who use screen readers from perceiving the video. 🤦 Mentioning this because I encountered this for probably the thousandth time today. #a11y

I don't even post much on here and doubt this will reach many, but whatever: I lost my job recently and am looking for new work, would appreciate any leads. I'm a certified digital accessibility specialist with lived experience as a disabled trans person, and I also have extensive web developer experience. Please get in touch if you know of any appropriate openings ❤️ Edit: thanks to replies for pointing out that I should add location details! I'm located in Stockholm, Sweden but will happily work remotely if possible and can travel on occasion if needed - not looking to fully relocate though! I can also be found on LinkedIn, a site I don't particularly like but accept the necessity of existing on, here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/thea-walther #accessibility #a11y #getfedihired
