På kvällen den 28 februari 1986 var jag på bio med en kompis. Vi såg Bröderna Mozart av Suzanne Osten på biografen Grand i Stockholm. En mycket bra film.
Vi gick på 19-föreställningen. Jag märkte inget konstigt efteråt då vi gick till bilen som var parkerad på Sveavägen, men kompisen nämnde i efterhand att han sett en person som såg underlig ut i foajén. Vi hade inte så mycket kontakt efter det, mest eftersom jag emigrerade ett par månader senare, och han gick bort innan jag flyttade hem.
Filmen finns att se gratis för dem som har lånekort på vissa bibliotek.

That's right! They always corrupt my address so it looks more like a different street in the same postal code.
I would never choose them, but it's often an unwelcome surprise to get an email that something is on the way. Most recently, I wasn't able to correct it, or release delivery without a signature, so I had to drive 25 km each way to pick it up. Useless!

I found this reply that I made in 1984 to Dennis Ritchie in the net.followup newsgroup. I was at the time lobbying Sun to add 8-bit character set support to the firmware, but they wanted to hold out for a 16-bit system, like the as yet unnamed Unicode. There was eventually an interim solution but my memory of that is a bit foggy.

In my brief visit to Tokyo 26 years ago, I noticed that the taxis seemed liked normal cars, except for the fact that the drivers controlled the opening and closing of the doors without having to step out.
Is there a liability here that is harder to overcome than driving around automatically in a busy city?
Anyway, I'm a big proponent of robotaxis if managed by public transport, and would never use a service by spy companies like Google-Waymo.

Great video!
Whereas #biofuel is considered a #renewableenergy, it's mostly true in the longer term, and won't be as helpful with solving the #cllimatecrisis here and now. I want to buy my electricity from solar, wind, and hydro energy only. No nuclear fission or plant burning sources, thanks.

Wikipedia doesn't say anything about common use in society. I still remember the day in school ca 1968 when we were taught the new way of writing dates, yyyy-mm-dd. This was a few years before the official Swedish standard SIS 10211, and 20 years before the international standard.
