I love helping civil/civic organizations move away from #bigtech & deploy alternatives.

The urgency is clearer than ever. #DigitalAutonomy has become a mainstream media topic. Yet thus far it has been mostly empty words.

The pace of actual change is either 'pre-climate-change' glacially slow, near invisible, non-existent or still going into the opposite direction. Very frustrating.

They all talk the talk, but few actually walk the walk...

Observations:

Today #bigtech social media looks & feels like TV to me. Consume whatever each platform owners' algorithms serve.

#ATProto's ecosystem seems focused on reach & broadcasting. #ActivityPub's ecosystem seems focused on interaction. Is this the diff between #SocialMedia Vs #SocialNetworks? Newschool vs Oldschool Internet?

Would be nice if these #protocols become interoperable. Technically solvable, but I wonder are the 'cultures(?)' interoperable as well? Thoughts?
