My Dad liked the borkum riff, but it isn't a core scent/memory (I just like saying borkum riff).
Prior to him taking up the pipe--when I was a tyke--he practised electronics. Had a work bench set up in the master bedroom (bless mom), cluttered with soldering irons, meters, tube oscilloscope, and scads of solid-state components, wires and circuits. He taught me how to solder when I was 4.
The smell of rosin smoke and cooked semiconductors sends me way back to that happy place.

A day or two after that I think you'd announced you were going to do some maintenance to sort something out, and then it was fine for a while. Occasionally media-loading still chugs...especially with older posts?
